Laura Chavez-Noriega, PhD

Laura brings to Akili over 20 years of Industry experience, with 13 years of neuroscience preclinical R&D work in Biotech & Pharma, followed by various leadership roles in Medical Affairs (Neurology & Psychiatry). She has contributed to the clinical development and peri-launch activities for several novel drugs. Prior preclinical R&D work led to two patents and over 30 peer reviewed publications.

Laura completed her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Neurophysiology at University College London and at The School of Pharmacy, at the University of London in the UK.  Her PhD thesis focused on the cellular mechanisms of Long-Term Potentiation (LTP) in the hippocampus, a cellular model of learning and memory.  She was then a Howard Hughes postdoctoral research fellow in Dr. Charles Stevens’ laboratory at Yale University School of Medicine and completed her work at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, CA.
